Scholarships from the College Board in India
Before we tell you about the numerous scholarship opportunities the College Board offers in India, we will first tell you about the Global India Higher Education Alliance. The Alliance was launched in 2018, featuring the College Board, the apex body that conducts the SAT, AP, and many other standardized tests, and several top Indian Universities. The primary mission of the alliance is to support and promote quality education in India, which transcends international education standards. The initiative is designed to make university admissions more inclusive and globally aligned.
SAT Fee Waiver
You can qualify for an SAT fee waiver of up to 90% depending on your parents' combined annual income. There are two slabs for which you might qualify:
- First Slab
The income threshold for the first slab is INR 8 lacs per annum, which will qualify you for a 90% SAT fee waiver. You will need to pay only 10%of the SAT registration fee. The total SAT registration fee as of the writing of this post is USD 111, inclusive of the international fee. GST is additional. - Second Slab
The second slab is pegged at a maximum parental income of INR 15 lacs per annum, which will also qualify you for a partial SAT fee waiver to the tune of 50%.
College Board Scholarships
An important feature of the College Board's SAT alliance with top universities in India is the College Board India Scholars Program. As a part of this initiative, students with an annual family income below INR 8 lakh and an SAT score above 1300 will qualify to receive significant tuition reduction or scholarships at several top universities in India. You might also qualify for a 100% scholarship from the College Board, also referred to as a "full ride," depending on your academic performance in your 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grades, SAT score, AP grades, and other contributing factors. This merit-cum-means scholarship program has made it possible for many income- disadvantaged students to attend top universities in India, thus paving the pathway to quality education, professional achievements, and fulfilling careers.
